Rome Machine Snowboard Review

By Eric B.

The Rome Machine is the best Freestyle Board for a Big-Footed Rider Hands Down

You know what they say about guys with big feet….

True, but the benefit of having all the snow bunnies thinking that you’re packing heat doesn’t come free.  Us big-footed boarders are in a constant battle with a duo of red-headed step children who go by the name of heel drag and toe drag.

As a six-foot tall freestyle boarder with a size 13 boot, my options have been limited for a long time.  The K2 Fat Bob looked and rode like a Sherman tank, and didn’t cater to my riding style at all.  After years of washing out on carve turns on the corduroy, the clouds parted and I was introduced to the Rome Machine.

Finally, a snowboard manufacturer figured out that a lot of foot-strong hucksters like myself have been dreaming about this type of set up for years.  A true twin board that’s super buttery, has tons of pop, and a nice, wide waist.  My first run down the hill on the Rome Machine had me sold, and I’ve been riding one ever since.

The Rome Machine sliced through high-speed carve turns with no chatter, had me feeling smooth as silk on the jibs and crisp on takeoff from any size kicker.  I was also spinning like a top now, since I could knock 6 or 8 centimeters off the length of my board while keeping an accommodating waist.  What were once 3’s were now 5’s and 7’s with ease, thanks mostly to my new best friend, the Rome Machine.

When you’re out shopping for your new ride this winter, do yourself a favor and strap into the Rome Machine.  Now on top of your size 12, you are also throwing down like Shaun White in the park.  Sorry eHarmony, your services will not be needed this winter!
