Store owner shows kindness on highway

I recently purchased a Yakima kayak rack for my car from a new store in Ann Arbor. I was planning a trip up north with a friend on Lake Superior for three days. I left the store to pick up my friend and had just gotten on I-94 west when one of the two kayaks fell off the rack and dangled on the passenger side of my car.

I pulled over and attempted to get the kayak back in the rack but I was having no success.

An older gentleman pulled over and offered to help me. He said he knew something about kayaks and suggested that I follow him to Westgate where he knew of a store that would help solve the problem. As it turned out, he was the owner of Sun and Snow, never mentioning that fact.

We pulled up behind the store and his partner came out and went right to work. They gave me a new strap, showed me how to secure both kayaks while explaining that they simply wanted to make sure I got up north safely because they did not want to worry about me.

That was it. They would not take my money, only my thanks. The trip was a huge success with no more problems, thanks to Bob Parent and the staff of Sun and Snow. They are the best example of a locally owned and operated store with the kind of community sprit you cannot beat.
