Sun & Snow started in Belleville, Michigan in 1971 and moved to Ann Arbor in 1980. Over the years, skis got shorter, boots got considerably more sophisticated and the tools in the back of the shop became a lot more impressive.
In 2010, the business moved into its second generation and opened in Downtown Plymouth. Since then we've built a bootfitting program recognized by America's Best Bootfitters, created a high-tech tuning operation around the WINTERSTEIGER Jupiter and turned a local used-gear sale into an eight-weekend Midwest Swap Tour.
None of that changed the basic job. Help someone get equipment that fits, works properly and makes sense for the way they actually ski or ride.

Bootfitters solve fit problems. Tuning technicians solve performance problems. Great tools help both teams do more, but experience is what tells us how to use them.
People who actually do this.
Our staff skis and rides on purpose, on their own time. Time on snow matters when you're helping somebody choose equipment.
Bootfitters who understand feet.
Feet, stance, shell shape, liners and alignment all matter. The goal isn't simply finding your size. It's making the whole boot work for you.
Technicians who care about details.
Base flatness, structure, edge geometry, wax and binding setup all affect how equipment performs. Our technicians know what to look for when something doesn't feel right.

If there's a better way to do it, we want to know about it.
Sometimes that means years of training and experience. Sometimes it means investing in technology most people would never expect to find in a family-owned Michigan ski shop.
EXPERTISE IS AN INVESTMENT TOO
Great bootfitting isn't a machine.
It comes from training, experience, problem-solving and a willingness to spend the time figuring out why a boot isn't working for a particular skier.
That's why we've invested heavily in our bootfitters and fitting program, earning recognition from America's Best Bootfitters as Michigan's only recognized shop.
THE SPORT IS BETTER WITH MORE PEOPLE IN IT
This has always been bigger than selling gear.
We work with families, racers, clubs, schools, first-timers and people who have been skiing longer than some of us have been alive.
The Midwest Swap Tour is part of that same idea: get good equipment out of garages, help the next family get fitted properly and make it easier for more people to enjoy the sport.
