A snowboard boot has to do two jobs at the same time: hold your foot securely enough to control the board while letting your ankle and lower leg move the way you need them to ride.
That's why we don't start with, “What size shoe do you wear?” and walk to the stockroom.
We look at the shape and volume of your foot, heel and ankle, your height and weight, your range of motion, how aggressively you ride and the type of riding you do. Those factors help us determine the right boot shape and the amount of support you actually need.
Finding the right starting boot is important, but that's not where fitting ends. We can customize snowboard boots to solve specific fit and support problems instead of simply hoping they'll “break in.”
We can mold compatible liners around your foot and ankle to improve heel hold, reduce unwanted pressure and create a more precise fit.
If a specific area of the boot is creating a hot spot, we can contour and modify the fit around that part of the foot rather than waiting for your foot to surrender.
We can adjust the way your foot sits inside the boot, including ramp angle when appropriate, to improve balance, comfort and the way you move over the board.
Traditional laces, BOA and hybrid systems can all create different pressure patterns. We can adjust and customize the way the boot closes to improve hold without creating hot spots.
Custom insoles can support the foot in a more stable position, improve alignment and help reduce unnecessary movement inside the boot.
For riders who struggle with cold feet, we can add boot heating systems without giving up the fit of the boot that works best for them.
Flex numbers don't tell the whole story. A boot that works for a lighter, highly mobile freestyle rider may be a poor choice for a heavier or more powerful rider who needs more support.
We consider your height, weight, ankle range of motion, ability level and riding style when choosing how supportive the boot should be. The goal isn't simply “stiff” or “soft.” It's enough support to control the board without fighting the rider.
The boot, binding and snowboard all influence how the setup feels. Once the boot is right, we can help make sure the rest of the system makes sense with it.
Compare traditional bindings, FASE and Nidecker Supermatic systems and find the right flex and fit for your boots.
Shop Snowboard BindingsBoard shape, flex, width and riding style matter too. We'll help match the board to the rider and the rest of the setup.
Shop SnowboardsCome into Sun & Snow in Plymouth or Ann Arbor and we'll help narrow the wall down based on your feet and the way you ride. If a boot needs additional work, we can mold and customize the fit from there.
Already own snowboard boots that aren't working? Bring them in. We'll take a look before assuming you need a new pair.
