Accurate measuring leads to better comfort and performance.
Measure one inch below the belly button to find true waist size. Do not use pant size. Competitive suits are designed to fit snug to reduce drag. Many wearers who are a 32 in pants select a 30 in a competitive suit.
Measure chest, waist, and hips. If chest is larger and hips smaller, size to chest. If hips are larger and chest smaller, consider sizing down slightly to improve hip seal.
Competitive suits feel tight but not painful. They should be secure and allow full range of motion.
For racing and training, a competitive fit is compressive to reduce drag. These suits are fully lined and often have a higher leg opening for better kick range. Prefer a bit less compression. Size up one.
